About Mira

We believe there's a spark of vitality in living things, and that a daily ritual should keep it lit rather than fix something broken.

That's the philosophy. Here's what it means in practice.

Colour comes from plants

Indigo leaf, madder root, spirulina, activated charcoal, pink kaolin clay. No mica, no oxide, no pigment.

Most soap that calls itself natural is still coloured with mica, because mica is consistent and easy and it photographs beautifully. Plants are none of those things. Indigo lands differently depending on the batch. Spirulina fades gently in light. Madder root deepens as the bar cures.

Your bar will not look exactly like the photograph. That's the proof, not the problem.

Every bar has a date on it

Cold process soap needs six weeks on the rack. Water leaves the bar, it hardens, and the scent settles into something rounder. A bar sold at day twenty is soft, dissolves twice as fast, and smells louder and thinner.

There's no way to rush it, so we don't. We publish where every batch is in its cure, and nothing ships before day 42.

A supermarket bar has no date on it, because nothing about it changes.

No palm oil

Palm is the standard hardener in handmade soap. It's cheap and it works, and that's an honest reason people use it. We use a higher olive ratio and a longer cure instead. Slower, and a milder bar for it.

Made by hand

Small batches, poured and cut and racked and wrapped by one person in Ontario. Which is why there are six bars and not sixty.

Vegan, palm free, and scented with essential oil rather than fragrance oil.
